We will resume our peaceful protests once our First Amendment Rights are not being questioned or suppressed. The First Amendment states:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
While we know that we are within our rights to peacefully hold a demonstration asking for a moratorium, we do not want to put anyone's life in danger. Instead of publicly protesting we are encouraging you to talk to your neighbors, friends, and people you meet every day and make sure they know about the data centers we are being innundated with. Make your own flyers calling for a moratorium. Continue to contact your representatives and ask them to support a moratorium to give everyone time to research the environmental and health impacts. Ask your representatives to protect your constitutional rights. Always be respectful in your words and actions. STAY INFORMED and STAY SAFE.
Did you know that roughly 7 in 10 Americans are opposed to having a data center in their backyard?
Why are we protesting? Some of the reasons include:
Resource Depletion: Massive demands on local drinking water supplies and natural gas for energy.
Energy Costs: Fears of grid instability and rising utility bills for local residents.
Economic Disparity: Pushback against corporate tax exemptions and the fact that these server farms generally provide very few permanent jobs.
Pollution, damage to the environment, unhealthy living conditions for humans, birds, wildlife, insects, and plants... (the list goes on)
If you are one of the roughly 7 out of 10 Americans who don't want a data center in their community please join us on _______________ at 10:00 am for 15 minutes and say NO TO DATA CENTERS!!
We will meet at the Village Square Shopping Center in Shermans Dale, plan on protesting along Rt 34 for approximately 15 - 20 minutes. Bring your own sign (be respectful) or use one of ours : )
As hard as it is to believe, not everyone knows what is going on with data centers! Please join us in educating our community about data centers! See you Saturday!!!
THE GREATEST THREAT TO OUR PLANET IS THE BELIEF THAT SOMEONE ELSE WILL SAVE IT!!! PEACEFUL PROTESTS WILL CONTINUE UNTIL WE SEE THE CHANGES WE NEED!!
